Getting there and around
By Airplane
The International Airport of Geneva offers direct regular services to more than 80 destinations. One among its advantages is its privileged situation at 4,5 km from the town centre. It is easily reachable by train or by bus using the united network of public transport Unireso. Only one single ticket is required to travel by train, tram, bus or boat in the area France-Vaud-Geneva.
It takes only 6 minutes from/to Geneva city centre by train. The airport railway station has direct access to the airport Check-in and Arrival levels. All trains stop at Geneva-Cornavin station (city centre).
By train
The Swiss National Railroad system offers hourly links to Lausanne, Bern, Basel, Zurich and to the famous holiday regions of the Cantons of Vaud and Valais.
City and airport of Geneva are joined by rail with more than 200 trains a day. Many international routes pass through Geneva to provide convenient connections across Europe.
Public transport
There are trams, buses and trolleybuses, trains and boats. The Unireso concept allows to use the same ticket on trains, boats (mouettes) and all public transport available inside the canton of Geneva.
It is possible to buy annual, monthly or weekly travel cards. At the begining it is better to choose a daily travel card (valid on all the network) than to purchase a ticket for only one hour. Tickets and travel cards can be purchased at the DATT machines (distributeurs automatiques de titres de transport).
The Geneva Transport Card
Enjoy and discover Geneva with their unique public transport system (boats, buses, trains) and a 48 hours or a 72 hours pass. In addition to the pass, a voucher booklet offering various reductions on restaurants, excursions and shops will be included free of charge.
